Volunteer
Therapetics is always looking for great folks to help us change lives. It doesn't matter if your talents are in dog training or drawing, filing or photography, creative, computers or cleaning, we can use your help!
Help Train a Puppy
Puppy Trainers
Puppy trainers are responsible for housetraining, socialization and teaching basic obedience such as sit, down, come and stay. As the puppies mature, puppy raisers begin taking them to public places for training in a "real world" environment. Training opportunities are not limited for these young dogs, however, we train our trainers to begin work on other service dog skills as the puppies demonstrate an aptitude for learning them.
Advanced Trainers
Once a puppy reaches one year of age, they transition to an advanced trainer home. Advanced trainers will take the service dog in training with them everywhere possible - to work, to church, restaurants, the movies, etc. They will fine tune the skills necessary for work as a service dog prior to partnering.
Babysitting
Can’t bear the thought of having a dog for a year and then giving it up? How about a just week or two? How about a weekend or holiday? While many times, puppy trainers take their dogs with them on vacation, there are times when it isn’t feasible.
Events
Often Therapetics has fundraising events such as Crawfest. We need a group of volunteers to help us make each event a success.
Administrative/Office
We love to share our good news with our supporters. We often need help with mailings, filing, data entry and other things around the office.
Creative
From illustration to scrapbooking, video to web design, we can make use of creative talent!
Other Ways to Help
We also need help with special projects that are great for Eagle Scouts, civic clubs and church youth groups!
